H H Kanchikamokothi Sri Shankaracharya Chandrasekharendra Saraswati
Jagadguru Sri Shankaracharya Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Maharaj, also known as the Sage of Kanchi or Mahaperiyava, was the 68th Jagadguru Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. Born in 1894 with the name Swaminathan, he was a child prodigy who excelled in his studies. He was initiated into the ascetic order at a young age and began his tenure as the head of the Kanchi Math.
he was a master of the Vedas, scriptures, and ancient Indian literature. He was widely regarded as a great Jnani (one with spiritual knowledge) and a “walking God” by his devotees. He traveled extensively on foot across India, promoting the path of Dharma and discussing religious questions with followers of various faiths, including Islam and Christianity. He also instituted several social initiatives, and under his guidance, the Kanchi Mutt started schools, hospitals, and traditional Vedic schools.
Sankaracharya was born on March 20, 1894, at 12-10 p.m.
