“Somati Vidya” is an ancient Vedic science of creating a protective energy barrier (often referred to in later traditions as the Lakshman Rekha) using specific mantras and with an activated device. This was not merely a drwanline but an

‘Ancient Universal Technology’ which modern science is yet to provide due recognition to it.

The primary significance of Somati Vidya lies in its practical application for protection and safeguarding life creating a Protective Shield.

This ancient universal Vedic technology evolved by implying 16 directions and ‘Panchwa tatwa’ of ‘Panchwa bhuta’ along with the complicated formulas of chemistry, cosmic and divine power. The practice involved using a specific Vedic mantra to activate an instrument (described as a “Somna Krutik Yantra”) that absorbs atmospheric elements like fire, air, and water atoms. When activated with a reverse code, it expelled a focused beam of fire and electricity, forming an impenetrable protective circle. Anything attempting to forcefully cross this line would be repelled or destroyed by an electric or fire shock.

The beeja mantra to activate ‘Somati Vidya’ was written in the Sanhita part of the Atharva Vedas as follows:

“Somam grahee bratam ratah: swaha betu sambhaba ll
Brahmaibacham pramanamagnam brhma re te avaste ll”
“सोमं ग्रही ब्रतं रत: स्वाहा बेतु सम्भाबा ll
ब्रह्मैबचं प्रमाणमग्नं बृह्मा रे ते अवस्ते ll”

This very mantra was not for any hawan or performing puja- archana. This was an activation code for implementing Somati Vidya.

Historical Application found in The Ramayana:

The most famous application is the Lakshman Rekha drawn by Lakshman around Sita’s dwelling to protect her in the forest. Ravana, who was aware of the vidya’s power, did not cross the line himself but tricked Sita into coming out of the protected area. This vidya was under the course curriculum in ancient Aryabhatta (ancient akhanda  Bharat) in four gurukuls such as Takshashila, Vikramshila, Nalanda and Oudantapuri ( Magadh). Brother of Purushottam Sree Ramchandra was a learned scholar of this vidya  which was in practice in 10000 years ago.

In Atharva Vedas total 64 ayaams or dimensions ( matras) were mentioned but modern science has  only discovered 5 out of them- length, breath, height, time and mind. Somati Vidya was practiced in rest 59 ayam or dimensions, exactly which one it is still unknown. This particular ayaam or dimension was completely barred for common man, violent creatures, rakshasa or any kind of evil spirits.

Vastu Shasta Concept:

In a continuous process of absorption first Prithwi tatwa was absorbed in Jal tatwa vanishing smell, Jal tatwa was absorbed in Agni tatwa vanishing rasa, Agni tatwa was absorbed in Vayu tatwa vanishing beauty, Vayu tatwa was absorbed in Byoam tatwa vanishing touch, Byoam tatwa was absorbed in Ahankar vanishing sound and finally Ahankar was absorbed in Mahat tatwa vanishing cosmic intelligence.

There is specific evidence of Somati Vidya in Mahabharata also which Rishi Sanga stated in his treaties:

It is said that Lord Krishna was the last person to know this vidya and used it during the battle of Kurukshetra to draw a line around the battlefield. This protected external life and the surrounding environment from the devastating heat and negative energy of the advanced weapons used during the war.

Scientific and Spiritual Knowledge: The texts describing this vidya represent as a sophisticated application of physical laws involving atoms, electricity, and energy manipulation, combining spiritual knowledge (mantra) with practical, advanced ancient science of Chemistry and Vastu Shastra.

Loss of Knowledge: According to some sources, this and many other advanced ancient Indian Vidya were lost over time due to the destruction of countless scriptures during various historical invasions.

In essence, Somati Vidya represents an example of the applied sciences within the Vedic context, focusing on advanced defense mechanisms to preserve life as ‘Radiation Shields’ and maintain dharma (righteousness).

No matter whether modern science accepts this ancient knowledge or not, if this is only a fiction with no scientific background, then why is the Beeja mantra written in the Atharva Vedas? The biggest question lies here.
