7th house is the house of marriage and partnership in general from any given Ascendant. It describes the quality of married life and the character of the spouse. It also denotes peers, the surrounding world, relationships with the outside world, business, and business trips within the country and abroad. Sexual passion and activities, external genitalia, and a reproductive system like – the uterus, and fallopian tube at the anatomical level are also indicated from this house.

Eastern psychology says that a woman may be highly placed or successful in life but it is very very important for every woman to get married and be a mother.

There are certain significances of this particular house in the birth chart. They are as follows:

1. The seventh house is the 3rd house of Kendra and all planets play an important role as those planets aspects the house of the personality.

2. Health, happiness and success along with sexual partners are dependable on the 7th house as it is directly proportional to how much a person can build a relationship.

3. Libra is the seventh house of the zodiac which personifies the best diplomats, advisers and people who understand what tactic is actually applicable to social hierarchy in society.

4. This is the 3rd house of Kendra and all planets play a very significant role as they aspect the house of native’s personality. This is difficult to change as it is the most karmic house. The 7th house is also called ‘Patal Lagna’ or ‘Mid Heaven’.

5. The 5th house and the 7th house are responsible for love. Relationship in the 5th house includes flirting, sexual desire and romance but commitment lies in the 7th house.

6. To ascertain whether the marriage or union will turn out good or bad or relationship will be successful, we need to consider the lord of the 7th house, the planet in the 7th house and the aspects of this house.

7. This is observed that the more planets in the seventh house, the less will be the desire to be alone.

8. Any of the malefic planets (Sun, Saturn, Mars, Rahu) placed or aspects in the 7th house create disturbances in married life. More numbers of malefic planets in the 7th house create more disturbing married life.

The bride and groom take seven turns of 360° (degree) centering an ‘Agni Kunda’ while marriage and eventually bride loses her own gotra and inherits the groom’s gotra. 360 is a number only un-divisible by 7. The remainder remains 3. That is why in Mahabharata it is said that the wife is the husband’s undetachable part and thus called “Ardhangini”. In saat phera, the bride circles the seven attributes of the groom – Atma, Man, Buddhi, Kamna, Kriya, Achaar and Adhikaran. Thus it is called “Saat Phera”.
