The BRICS countries are scheduled to meet on September 24, 2021, in Washington. Final preparations are underway regarding this. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to participate in this meeting. There are five countries in the BRICS group. Those countries are Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
India is concerned about the dramatic developments in Afghanistan and China’s growing role there. The BRICS countries will meet on September 24, 2021, to formulate a joint strategy. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the meeting in Washington, which will be formally announced soon.
Sources said that apart from attending the BRICS Conference, Narendra Modi will also hold bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden. The agenda of both these meetings are very much important – will be on Afghanistan and the role of Pakistan and China in it.
China, Russia, Iran, and Pakistan have become one regarding the recent development in Afghanistan. China has even announced a $3.1 crore package to the new Taliban government. With its growing proximity to the Taliban, the United States suspects that Al-Qaeda and ISIS will re-emerge. Meanwhile, India suspects a new round of terrorism in the Kashmir valley.

Meanwhile, India has alerted the US and Russia to its concerns over Afghanistan. Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser of India, the head of the US intelligence agency CIA and the Russian NSA have also held detailed talks on this matter.
Kyodo News of Tokyo has quoted that final preparations are underway for the quad meeting to be held in Washington on September 24, 2021. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has officially announced his participation. It was reported that Japanese Prime Minister Suga, US President Joe Biden, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison will hold face-to-face meetings aimed at strengthening the partnership against China’s growing dominance in the Indo-Pacific region. Japanese Prime Minister will also talk with Joe Biden about peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits.
A statement has been made from the BRICS platform to discuss various situations of the Afghan people. Members of the BRICS conference were eager to re-establish stability, peace, and rule of law in Afghanistan. They also told that the human rights situation in Afghanistan should improve. The rights of women, children, and minorities should be protected. The BRICS countries will keep a close watch on Afghanistan so that no militant can build a base there. Their special emphasis will be on counter-terrorism.
A statement revealed, “The BRICS group is committed to curbing terrorism. Efforts will also be made to ensure that terrorists do not cross the border from one country to another, that they do not find safe havens anywhere, and that no international network provides them money. This group is committed in the way that drugs should not be smuggled to other countries.”
