Caroline Wozniacki scored 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in 2.37 hours to reach her first Grand Slam quarterfinal beating Maria Sharapova at the U.S. Open championship faced tremendous heat on Sunday.

The players took a 10 minute break before the final set because of tremendous heat. Sharapova got a warning from the umpire for arguing with him. Wozniacki complained against Sharapova for lingering on between points to kill time.

In the final set of the match Wozniacki combined her usual defence with much attacking game ousted her completely. In previous matches, Wozniacki was defeated in the first round at the French Open and in the fourth round at the Wimbledon.

She appears physically and mentally very strong, because she has already announced for participating the New York City Marathon on 2nd November, 2014 when they will be in peak season.
