Sarah Hunter and Rochelle, both Women’s Rugby World Cup winners, were among the sportspersons who were being conferred by MBE (the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire), the most prestigious award in UK.
As the vice-captain of the England Women’s team, Sarah Hunter managed victory against Canada in Paris in August, 2014, while Rochelle Clark was such a player who represented her country on 95 occasions in international level. Sarah Hunter, at 29, and Rochelle Clark, at 33, received this MBE award after serving England to lift the World Cup for the first time in twenty years.
Sarah Hunter, who leaded the England team during Six Nations, said that that was a massive honour for her, and also added that she was very much proud to be a part of the incredible success they had cherished as a whole team.
Clark admitted that she never anticipated for such an honour when she started her international career some 11 years back. She told that she felt deeply honoured and proud to receive that award and appreciated her mother, her friends and all the coaches for giving her tremendous support through the journey. She mentioned special appreciation for England women’s forwards coach Graham Smith, for making her a player like what she was on today.
