The ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ has rejected the rumours of Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Arvind Kejriwal to be the candidate in election of Punjab and Goa. The party constitution clearly states that no member can join to the electoral contest from the same family, or can hold a high level position like ‘Executive Body’ in the party. So, the top leaders are in great pressure about the rumours got spread out all over the social media. The constitution of the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ was made that time when the party began to consolidate in the political scenario.

The senior leaders of ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ have clearly taken the stand that they were against ‘dynastic politics’. Though, they did not rejected the probability of joining Sunita Kejriwal only for assisting Arvind Kejriwal for campaigning in this situation of forth-coming elections in Punjab and Goa. They sent their decision by mail.

The speculation began after Sunita Kejriwal decided to take VRS from the Finance Ministry job from 15th July, 2016. Various social media flooded with the rumour that Sunita Kejriwal was preparing to join the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’, and also she could be the focus of the party in Punjab and Goa. Sunita has decided to take VRS (voluntary retirement scheme) almost 10 years after her husband took VRS from his government job.

The ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ also condemned this type of proclamation and stated that their ‘Executive Body’ would decide the chief ministerial candidate, and it would be selected according to merit. The AAP leaders tried to make people understand by saying that Sunita’s VRS was completely her personal matter.

A senior party official of AAP told that although they were not aware the reason behind Sunita’s decision to take VRS, but they were sure that she would not join their party. She might be present only for campaigning for Punjab and Goa with Arvind Kejriwal. The official also told that they were not aware of any schedule made for that.

In political experts’ opinion, there was an invisible tug-of-war between the senior leaders of ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ to become the supremo. Also, they are very much cautious about anti-dynasty system like the Indian National Congress which spoils democracy in a party. Now, the time will say what the line of strategy they are following.
