A recent incident proved once again that the Islamic extremist forces are allowed to act freely in Pakistan. The whole world is stunned by the beating, burning to death of a Sri Lankan citizen in Sialkot of Pakistan on charges of blasphemy, an insult to Islam.

Priyanth Kumar Diwadana, a Sri Lankan national, was working as a factory manager in Sialkot. He was in his forties. He was beaten to death and his body was burnt by a group of Islamic extremists. This incident nakedly showed that people of other religions are not safe in Pakistan.

Namal Rajapaksa, Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, Sri Lanka, told that the brutal murder of Priyantha Diyawadana proved that allowing terrorists to rule freely could have a similar result for anyone.

Not only a 40-year-old man was beaten to death, but the local youth practically carried out vandalism in the factory. Multiple computers were vandalized in the factory office. Attempts were also made to set fire to the storeroom of the cricket equipment factory.

According to a Pakistani government official, Priyanth tore down a poster of the extremist group ‘Tehreek-e-Labbaik’ and threw it in the dustbin. Some Quranic verses were written on the poster. Some workers of the factory saw the incident and informed many. Hundreds of people then gathered outside the factory after a while. Most of them were members of that radical religious group. They did not even stop beating Priyantha with mass beatings, they also burnt his body.

The horrific incident that happened at Sialkot, about 100 km from Wazirabad Road, was also raised in the Sri Lankan Parliament. The incident was strongly condemned and an appeal was made to ensure the safety of the remaining Sri Lankans living in Pakistan. The Sri Lankan government and the opposition agreed that talks should be held with the Pakistani government so that this type of incident would not happen again.

The government has arrested 100 people on suspicion of involvement in the infernal incident. Punjab law enforcement agencies have formed a team of 10 people to identify the culprits. IG has summoned the report within 48 hours. Farhan Idris, the main accused in the case, was also among the detainees.

Imran Khan said that the day was a great shame for Pakistan. He assured the guilty of appropriate punishment and justice. Sri Lanka’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Namal Rajapaksa called the tragedy of the brutal murder of his countrymen was beyond sense and idea. He also advised Imran khan – it should be kept in mind that allowing terrorists to rule freely could have consequences for anyone.
