Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born on 31st July 1965 at Chipping Sodury, in the ‘Unitary Authority of South Glouchestershire’, England. She had her sister named Dianne, who was born just 2 years later. Their family shifted to Tutshill when Joanne was nine. From her childhood days, she was in the exposure of reading atmosphere as her parents loved reading. Joanne gradually formed a reading habit from her childhood days as she enjoyed reading. So, the passion for books increased in course of time, and she felt an urge to become a writer. She had schooling from St Michael’s Primary School in Glouchestershire of England.

Joanne Kathleen started writing at the age of six years. Obviously, her initial efforts were not so significant. But one of her writings that had been praised by her mother was about a rabbit with measles. Joanne Kathleen could not express where the concept came from, and she also admitted that it was not at all a normal idea that came to a six-year-old child. She remembered time and again that her good friend Sean had always been a great support to become a good writer.

Her parents got her admitted to the University of Exeter to study French. She preferred to study English actually, but her parents wanted her to learn something more functional than English. She spent a year in Paris, then graduated from the university and joined several jobs in London. Among various jobs, the job of Amnesty International was one of her favourite jobs. While the organization works against misuse of ‘human rights’, Joanne got a new inspiration there.

In the year 1990, Joanne was on a long train journey from Manchester to London, and the train was late for more than 4 hours. The idea about ‘Harry Potter’ came to her brain, but she did not have a pen to write it down immediately. Joanne also admitted in her biography that she was so shy that she could not borrow a pen from somebody, and felt enormous frustration for that situation.

After reaching her flat, she started to write the book without wasting any time. That was just the starting of her positive thought to create something genius. The process of creating the brand ‘Harry Potter’ took several years to complete.

Another shock Joanne got in the year 1990 when her mother died of Multiple Sclerosis. She felt the loss extremely because she got an attachment to her mother. Her personal feelings reflected on her book – it was well observed when Harry Potter lost his mother. In ‘Philosopher’s Stone’, we found a presentation of ‘The Mirror of Erised’ – in which the mirror demonstrated the most urgent craving of a man’s heart, a dream that had been known to steer men mad.

Joanne went to Portugal in the year 1991 to get a job as an English teacher. She met Jorge Arantes there and they got married. Later the couple had a child named Jessica Arantes. But, unfortunately, they had a break-up on a ferocious argument after a couple of years. As a result of this, Joanne was being thrown out of the house. She returned to the UK in 1993, started to survive on state benefits, and also started to bring up her daughter as a single parent. She was completely shattered. She had been suffering from acute depression. The only thing which kept her doing suicide was the responsibility to bring up her daughter. Her fight against depression was very hard, and ultimately she won the battle proving that people should not give up at any cost to find their happiness. Her turning back to fight against obstacles really give us great inspiration.

She used to go to Edinburg cafes for preparing her book while her daughter used to sleep during the day. In the first phase of 1994, Joanne finished ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’, typed the final manuscript on an old manual typewriter, and started sending the manuscript to several publishing companies. She became a bit discouraged with repeated rejections by several publishers, but never stopped trying. She was being rejected by 12 major publishing houses of England. At last, a small publisher ‘Bloomsbury’ agreed to publish her book. The editor of the publishing house, Barry Cunningham, also paid her £1500 in advance. She was advised that writers of children’s books generally did not use to get very well.

In the year 1996, after a couple of weeks of distribution deals of her books truly began to take off. The beginning print run was of just 1,000 – 500 of which went to libraries. Versions of the 1st editions were said to be worth up to £25,000 each. She additionally got a gift from the Scottish arts council, which empowered her to full-time writer. After the book’s introductory achievement in the UK, an American organization ‘Scholastic’ consented to pay a surprising £100,000 for the rights to distribute in America. Warner Bros secured the film rights for the books in 1998, giving her a seven-figure total. The movies have amplified the achievement of the books, making Harry Potter a standout amongst the most significant media items.

Joanne Kathleen Rowling completed her last book of the Harry Potter Series on the 21st December 2006 – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”. The book was discharged in July 2007, getting to be one of the speediest ever selling books. Joanne has said the book was her top choice, and it fulfilled her mind with both the emotions of joy and sorrow. She has said she would keep up writing however there was the minimal possibility of proceeding with the Harry Potter Series.

Although she was a believer in God, still she had hesitation with her confidence.

Now we are aware that Joanne Kathleen Rowling has made stunning progress, offered more than 400 million reprints of her books. But, she has ascended from close destitution to being one of the wealthiest women in the UK and has contributed a great many dollars to charitable organizations. If she had given up with frustration she could never have reached her dreams. She might have been living on welfare for the greater part of her life or brought her girl up in a one-room flat.

But since she continued attempting, Joanne has succeeded and turned into a popular and magnificent writer throughout the world. Joanne Kathleen Rowling has set an example that the proverb “Never give up” works if anybody works dedicatedly.
